In the world of fast-changing web sites, some unimportant tags go unforgotten. I know that I am guilty of doing this as well. In my rush to publish a site, I take a few shortcuts. One of those is not using the ALT and TITLE tags at all in my hyperlinks

This is an extremely simple thing to do. Go through your post and be sure to “intra-link” your site to other, important articles. Be sure to add a (smallish) nice description for each hyperlink using the ALT and TITLE tag. Recently, I had the pleasure of dealing with this lawyer, a person like I just described. She is so ill-mannered that I often think that they must teach that in law school. She delighted herself in thinking she got one up on me by discovering my blog, and she waved around the paper printouts - I’m surprised she actually figured out how to use the internet because, according to her letters, she obviously can’t use the English language too well. I hope that she reads this, and invests in Microsoft Word. It has a built-in spell checker.

Sometimes I have to suppress a laugh she sounds like a fool and she doesn’t even know it. I find great humor in the fact that is quite stupid and everyone one else, save her clients, are painfully aware of it except for her.

Just like real life, you’re bound to come across a blog where its owner needs to invest in Microsoft Word as well. I won’t name any names, because that would just be rude and inflammatory. And herein lies the problem of the internet: because anyone can write anything that they want, they often do. And since a blog is all about conveying your thoughts, and each person has their own personality, it’s very unfortunate that sometimes, their personality shows and they actually convey their thoughts. I get asked this question a lot, because, well, to get traffic, you need the search engines to like you. That’s not to say that every person who visits your site will get there by a search engine, but the vast majority of people who come to your site come from one of three ways: Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Think about how you surf the internet. If you’re looking up, say, How to Write an Article, then you probably go to a search engine and type in “Article Writing.” Somewhere along the line, you may eventually hit my blog.

Search Engines provide an invaluable traffic service, by sending your site a “steady stream” of visitors. There are a lot of things that you can do to increase the number of hits to your site, or in other words, increase your listing on the list of search results. This is called “SEO” or “Search Engine Optimization.” The higher your site on the list, the more likely someone will be to click on it. (more…)

One of those reasons is because WordPress is expandable and adaptable. The sheer number of great plugins that were created for this platform make it the giant in the blogging software industry. You don’t like that it does this-and-that? Well, there’s a plugin to do exactly what you want!

If anything, the only drawback (if you can call it one) is that you must wade through all the plugins. And yes, some of them, can be, well, not so good. So here is my list of the most important ones to download. (more…)

I recently discovered a great little secret, using the various parts of Yahoo. So in today’s article, I’m going to show you a quick little tip on how to drive some free traffic to your site, and get Yahoo to pick up your site, thus creating some more web site traffic.

Let’s step back a little bit. In the world of internet search engine, there are three kings that you have to worry about. The first one is Google, followed by Yahoo and then MSN. Although if you’ve been reading the recent events between Yahoo and MSN, they could possibly be merged in the not-so-distant future.
