Guest Blog for Increase of Traffic

If you’ve been following my advice so far, you’ve established a good, solid blog. People come visit you, and if you are anything like me, you get excited over the statistics. Not only that, but you’re constantly amazed that other people will want to read your articles! People asked your advice! You can look in the mirror and honestly say, “People like me!”

No, seriously. Blogging presents itself with unique challenges, mostly the deadlines that you create for yourself. Now it’s time to take your blog to another level. You are going to actively seek out and form new relationships.

I’m a pretty shy person and I don’t really like to bother other people, which is why this part of blogging is extremely difficult for me. I have to go out and seek out other bloggers, convince them that I’m worth writing on their blog, and then write something for them.

So how do you go out and guest blog?

1. Do your homework. Bloggers are real people, and they occasionally do things, like, go on vacation. Sometimes they even ask other people to blog for them. Sometimes they have other people who already blog for them. So get out there, look at other blogs in your niche, and see if they would be willing to let you blog.

2. Target other guest bloggers. They will be more receptive to you guest blogging if they already guest blog, or they already have guest bloggers.

3. Become an avid reader of their blog. Make sure you’ve read through all of their articles and draft something that you could write about.

4. Start a relationship. Write comments on their blog. This is the fastest, and easiest, way to get yourself noticed.

5. Provide feedback. Now, you can contact the blog owner. Don’t ask to write for them yet. Take the time to tell them that you really like their blog long before you ask them to write on it, and you will increase your chance for success. Tell them what you like, and what you don’t like about their blog. Reading their blog is the best form of compliment.

6. Ask if you can reprint some of their work on your blog. This way, they don’t have to do anything except say yes. And you look smarter because you can associate yourself with them.

7. Finally, just ask. You may get rejected, and that’s ok. Just start over with another blog. One day, someone WILL take you up on your offer.
