Need More Traffic? Then It’s Time for Article Submission!
Posted on March 10, 2008
Article submission is the new rave amongst bloggers, because in theory in provides tons of backlinks for your web site. In this article, I’m going to show you how to do it effectively.
If you have an existing blog, then we can jump right in. However, if your blog is new, then I suggest you get busy writing a few articles before taking this route.
First things are first. Go grab yourself Article Submitter, which is a tool that will let you submit the article to about 75 free content directories. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading to the paid version, which is $67, and that will allow you to submit to like 600 or so directories.
You are trading your talent for free advertising to your web site. All those content providers provide thousands of backlinks to your site. This is a proven, reliable method to creating a lot of traffic to your web site. It isn’t even a secret - hundreds of marketing bloggers out there recommend doing the same thing.
Let’s take a look at one of my blog posts “The Business Sense of Blogging.”

As you can see, there isn’t anything there. So, my next step is to enter all te required information into Article Submitter.

Now, I start to submit to the directories. This is going to be a very long step, but once you get everything set up, submitting more articles is a breeze.
Some of the directories are no longer good. I put a + sign in the User Notes field if submitting them is easy, a - sign if I can submit but it’s a pain to do so, and a “BAD” if the directory isn’t good at all.

When you first start submitting, be sure to sort the column by Pagerank. Why? The page that your article will land on probably won’t have a high pagerank, so that isn’t important, but more people will go to a site that is higher ranked. I generally don’t bother with any site that has a pagerank of 3 or less.

Now you can see that I can sort the User Notes column. This is going to help when I do my next article submission.
And the results?

After 5 days of waiting, I have 608 page results. How is that for good marketing!

Hi, I’m new to the carnival and I ran across your site there. Now I’ll admit I’ve been up for several days fixing blog issues, and virus issues on my computer, so I’m groggy. But I’m not sure I understand “I have 608 page results.” Does this mean you’ve confirmed the articles were accepted? Or that you’ve got 608 backlinks from the various sites?
I put about 40 articles over at ezinearticles, and I can see stats on views and clicks on their site, but after recently reading that google doesn’t like double content I’ve cut out the ezine thing. Unless I write a piece ONLY for them and not also have it on my blog.

I realized that after you left a comment, my images weren’t showing correctly so I fixed them.
Yes, now you can see that when I do a search for “The Business Sense of Blogging” I get 608 search results.
Actually, the “double content” thing is a myth. I’ve read into it and researched it, and the reason people say that is because they want unique content. My suggestion, though, is to pick a few content directories and stick with those instead of submitting to 1000 of them. Make sure you pick a directory that PR 4+.
Thank you for the adjustments to this post and insight into those other issues. I will research just a tad-but I recently asked Ezines if they could help me figure out where my articles go-they didn’t know. So that was my fault, I was writing and not lacing them with links to me because they advise your profile link being enough. Not so, people just take the content and scram!
Anyway this is a TEENY TINY issue compared to my recent troubles with adsense.
