Blog Your Carnival

Posted on March 3, 2008

Fireworks Red and Green for CarnivalI’d like to share with you an idea that I’ve just run across. It’s related to the free article submissions that I recommend, and it’s called Blog Carnivals.

I do have a confession to make. I really only write one post per week on this site, as well as my other one, Korean Diary. (Actually, Korean Diary gets two updates per week - one recipe and 5 different language lessons - but I only submit the recipe.) The reason is because I started these blogs before I began really marketing them.

This model, however, works out well for me, because then I can concentrate on delivering quality writing and content for my sites. Like I’ve stated, every blog post to 5 Star Blog and Korean Diary are submitted to the free article content directories, which helps generate a lot of traffic to my sites.

Along those lines, this suggestion is greatly beneficial to those who wish to go from about nothing to about 50,000+ visitors per month. You have to produce great content, but Blog Carnivals can give you a free boost in getting your unknown, small blog out there. You can pick up a dozen or so new subscribers or readers with each submission, so I highly recommend giving it a try.

A word of warning: don’t try to spam them with affiliate links, press releases, or product reviews. Yes, you can use these on your site, as long as it doesn’t violate the Terms and Conditions of your blog hosting service (if you use a free one) or web site host (if you use a commercial hosting service). I like to call these type of articles “fillers,” because the “meat” of your blog is a once-per-week, well-written article. Yes, you can make money from the “fillers” - actually, sometimes you make a lot of money from them - and if you are like me, you refuse to recommend a product that won’t actually benefit your readers. However, these are not the type of articles that Blog Carnivals are looking for. Anyone can write those type of articles.

Happy writing!

I got a confirmation from one of the other blogs out there on Korean Diary, and they linked to me, so I can verify that this does indeed work!
